The climate in Ukraine changes faster than in other countries and the forests suffer from this as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported.
‘The change of the climate is reality and its speed in Ukraine is a little bit higher than in other countries’, Tamara Kutonova, the senior international consultant of the FAO.
She reminds that the fast changes in the climate negatively influence the forest resources of Ukraine.
‘On the one hand, the forests play a significant role in the absorbing of the greenhouse gases and the decrease of the speed of the climate change. On the other hand, the change of the climate really negatively influences the forests’, she emphasized.
Also, the FAO noted that Ukraine works on the issues of the climate change but this topic is not included in the national and sub-national strategies and strategies of the agricultural sector.
The common aim of the FAO project is the estimation of the current and forecasted climate conditions in Ukraine, determination of the vulnerability and risk and the making of the plan for the actions. The conclusions and recommendations will be included in one document that will be provided to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine until the mid of spring 2018.
Earlier the UN claimed that the consequences of the global climate changes in Earth and other ecological problems become the reasons of the conflict in the recent times.
Also, Stephen Hawking, the UK physicist warned that the climate conditions on Earth will be unbearable for the humanity. The scientist predicts that the average temperature will reach 460 degrees above zero if people do not reduce the omission of the greenhouse gases. Also, he criticized Donald Trump for the removal of the US from the Paris Climate Agreement.
