At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, November 7, the Government decided to allocate land in the Exclusion Zone for the construction of wind energy facilities.

The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine made reports about this on the departmental portal.

As it turned out, the decision permits the development of a land management project at several sites in the Ivankovsky district of the Kyiv region with a total area of 7 hectares for housing, construction, and operation of buildings and structures of wind energy facilities.

“This is not only good news for potential investors but also the continuation of the course we have taken to increase the share of alternative energy in the total energy balance of the country. For the Ministry of Environment, it is important that renewable energy facilities do not require the constant presence of people and are absolutely safe for the environment, ”profile minister Ostap Smerak stated this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in the information for colleagues before voting for a decision.

He recalled that last year the government made a number of important decisions that simplified the procedure for doing business in the area. The head of the national environmental department also noted that the Exclusion Zone has a high level of investment attractiveness, which is confirmed by investors from different countries of the world.

The ministry also reminded that in two years more than 60 applications were received from investors for receiving a land plot in the exclusion zone with the aim of implementing renewable energy projects. These are both domestic companies and companies from Denmark, USA, China, Germany, France, Japan, and Belarus.

After a positive vote at a meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers, Ostap Semerak, on his Facebook page, concisely stated: “The government supported the proposal of the Ministry of Natural Resources to start wind power (WPP) in the Chernobyl zone. The first private investment in such a project begins to design WEC. The Chernobyl zone is the territory of changes. ”
